The Potteries Tile Trail

The Potteries Tile Trail is an online collection of photographs and related information that aims to promote Stoke-on-Trent’s internationally important tile and architectural ceramics industry.

During the last six months a volunteer research team and the wider local community have explored the city’s unique ‘in situ’ ceramics and related stories through a series of activities and events. These contributions have formed the basis for six tile trails or heritage walks – one for each of the 6 towns: Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke, Fenton and Longton.

The six pilot trails will be available free of charge to anyone accessing our dedicated Historypin channel (via the web or mobile phone application). The trails will also be made available as digital documents (PDFs) on the project website and can be downloaded or printed if required. The downloadable digital PDF versions and final Historypin collections and tours will be available from early September to complement the launch event.

The Potteries Tile Trail project has been led by the national Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society (TACS) and funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) All Our Stories initiative.
